1987
Dan Gordon graduates from the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan with a brewing engineering degree, soon after meets Dean Biersch.
1988
The first Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant opens in Palo Alto, CA.
1994
Draft beer distribution commences, and the first GB concession stand is opened at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park (former home of the SF Giants). Dan and Dean invent garlic fries for the occasion, which remain as a crowd favorite today – 3 tons of potatoes and 1,000 pounds of garlic are needed for all the hungry mouths at every game!
1997
Brewery and bottling plant opens in San Jose, shipping 550,000 cases in the first year within California and to Hawaii.
2008
20 years of independent brewing is celebrated with big bashes all across the country, and GB announces plans to expand to Taiwan.
2019
Oliver Gordon joins the team as CFO to continue GB as family owned and operated.
2020
GB brewery installs a state-of-the-art canning line, featuring a high-tech, German-made filling machine that facilitates exceptional shelf lives for our products.
2022
GB is the 17 largest domestic craft brewery, and growing!
2024
Gordon Biersch expands production capacity from 2.2 million cases per year to 5.3 million.
